There is no silver bullet to decarbonising heat, and finding solutions will require us to consider how we can do things differently. The Committee on Climate Change (CCC) has identified heat networks as a crucial element on the path towards decarbonising heat, estimating that they will need to service 18% of the country’s heat demand by 2050 if the UK is to meet its carbon targets cost-effectively. Currently, heat networks supply just 2% of the UK’s heat demand, and so their contribution will need to be scaled up considerably.
So, how do we get there? Find out more in this session, which will explore examples of different routes to zero carbon heat, with a particular focus on the carbon reduction and sustainability aspects of each project. With a fantastic all female speaker line up, these are the women challenging the status quo.
